Install Klipto and grant access

Klipto is a direct download, signed and notarized by Apple. It is not in the Mac App Store, so the first launch asks one extra question.

1. Open the .dmg and drag Klipto into Applications.
2. Launch it. macOS asks whether you are sure, because the app did not come from the App Store. Click Open.
3. Klipto asks for Accessibility access and shows you a window with two steps. Drag the Klipto icon into the list in System Settings.

That permission is what lets Klipto press ⌘V in the app you are in. Without it the item still reaches your clipboard, so a manual ⌘V works, but nothing pastes by itself.

Klipto has no icon in the Dock. It lives in the menu bar, and you reach it with a double tap of ⌘ or with ⌥⌘V.

Updating

Klipto checks for updates on its own and tells you in the menu bar when one is waiting. You can also check by hand in Preferences, and turn the automatic check off there.

Installed with Homebrew? brew upgrade leaves Klipto alone, because the app updates itself. Use --greedy if you want Homebrew to do it.
