Storage, retention and privacy

Everything Klipto keeps is in a database inside its own container on your Mac. No account, no sync, no server. The only network call is the update check, and that has a switch.

How much history

Preferences → Clipboard and popup → Storage holds three limits:

• Number of items the popup keeps in memory, from 10 to 500.
• Maximum age, in days, after which items are removed.
• Maximum size on disk, after which the oldest items go.

What never gets in

• Passwords: the exclusion for password managers is in the same pane, and it is off until you switch it on. With it on, copies made in those apps are discarded.
• Concealed copies: anything an app marks as sensitive is ignored.
• Apps you choose: the exclusions list takes bundle identifiers, and nothing copied in those apps is recorded.

Screen sharing

Klipto hides its own windows from screen recordings and screenshots by default, so your clipboard does not end up in a meeting. Turn it off on the Preferences home page when you need to record a demo.

⌥⌘⌫ clears the history. The history window and the popup both offer it, with a confirmation.
