Build your own chip

When the built-in chips do not cover a job you do every day, build one. A custom transformation is a name and a chain of steps that run top to bottom.

1. Open Preferences → Preview and transforms and pick the content type the chip belongs to.
2. Click Create your own transformation.
3. Name it. The name is the chip label, so it is capped at fourteen characters.
4. Add step — a built-in action, a regex replace, or an AI prompt.
5. Fill in the sample under Try it. The whole chain runs against it as you type.
6. Save.

Order is the point of a chain: a regex that lifts the hostname, then UPPERCASE, is one tap. Drag a step to move it.

The finished chip lands at the top of that type's list, already switched on, and behaves like any built-in. Its ⋯ menu offers Edit and Delete.

A transformation belongs to one type. Built from Text, it shows on plain text, rich text, Markdown and notes; for the same thing on URLs, build it again from Link.
